Discouragement is simply the absence of courage. It is not having the will or the drive to keep going after a little or more set back on the path you were trying to take or a cause you were willing to pursue. Many get discouraged after trying so hard and failed; while a lot try once and retire. In whatever you do, know this that discouragement is not just what you feel, it is actually an enemy of progress.

We've had stories of great minds that have affected our world today positively, does it mean they never failed or faced obstacles in their journey in life? No, not so. Many of these people actually faced obstacles and encountered challenges before they had a breakthrough that brought them into limelight. Obstacles and challenges are actually spices in your journey. A student that never wrote an exam wouldn't get promoted. The exams are a means of testing if he/she has learned enough from the current class and is ready for the next class.

Friends, discouragement is nothing but a hindrance in itself. You may get discouraged from facing a stubborn obstacle, but getting discouraged is also an obstacle. The other obstacle you may face would seem small if you can overcome discouragement at every turn. I know it may be difficult to not get discouraged especially if you have tried severally without succeeding but my word for you is to try again. There was a man who had the vision of making electric light bulbs to conquer darkness despite the availability of electricity. He took it upon himself to research and design a light bulb but failed after hundreds of attempts. I'm not sure how many attempts he made but what would have happened if he gave up on the 499th attempt assuming he made 500 attempts before he got it to work? Imagine the margin between 499 and 500 where he got it to work! All attempts from 1 to 498 would have been wasted if he had given up at that 499th attempt, though that failed, he only had one more step to take to achieve success.

You may not be where you want but if you are truthful to your self you know you are better than where you were. even if it all looks the same or more like its getting worse, something in you is better than before.

Most of us get discouraged because things don't work or get done as easy as we have envisioned making us to careless about the little progress we have made in some other areas. Keep telling yourself things will get better, I am getting there; even when it doesn't seem so. A man called David got to his camp and found that his wife and children and that of his followers have been kidnapped. All his followers were clamping down on him, blaming him for their woes but he encouraged himself and sought for a way out and he was able to recover all.

I saw a vehicle yesterday filled with smoke just as I was returning home from the park, the driver's action was that of a discouraged man, every of his passengers dropped form the car and moved back, the driver too ran out of the car, stood afar and watched while the smoke increased, it was a courageous by-stander who had a bottle of water that moved close to the car and found that it was the brake disk that got hooked to the break pads and the smoke came from the heat caused by friction and he poured his bottle of water on the disks while some others began to run to the rescue. That vehicle could have gone ablaze left for the driver, the looks on his face suggested discouragement; that's all, my car is on fire, there's nothing I could do. Don't be like this driver that almost lost his car. Courage asks what more can be done? Courage says there could still be away, I can still make it, It is not that though, I am built to proffer solution.

Courage is the voice of strength, will, desire to move on, enthusiasm, resolve against all odds. Let courage be you watchword and the sky will be too low for you not to fly. Have a great day. Please share this to encourage someone.
